Chapel

Built it 1884, the Canby Pioneer Wedding Chapel was originally built one block south of where it now stands. It was the original Church of God in Canby, Oregon. Moved on logs to its present location at Northwest Third and Elm Street, it is a community treasure and perfectly restored to maintain its original appeal.

The interior is stunning detail. It features hand-detailed tin walls, hand-carved wooden benches, and breathtaking, ornate stained glass windows to reflect the sun's light in a heavenly glow. The entire interior is white.

The chapel will seat up to 125 guests comfortably on the main floor and balcony.

This is the chapel for the couple who wishes to have their marriage memories cherished in the romance of a Victorian country church. The front stairway and both side lawns are perfect locations for additional wedding portraits.

The chapel and its charming entrance are perfect for your wedding photographs. The lighting inside the church is natural sunlight complimented by strategically placed lights inside. For a beautiful evening service, the chapel simply seems to glow from the inside out -beautiful!

Parking is one of the best features about the outside of the chapel. Situated on a corner lot, parking along either side of Elm Street gives convenient access to the chapel. A parking lot belonging to a separate church behind the chapel provides for overflow parking, as well as parking along the street at a nearby school a block from the chapel.

Click on any of the scrolling thumbnails to see enlarged pictures of the inside of the chapel. The walls are custom hammered tin, the original walls. At the top of the alter is a round stained glass window depicting Christ at the Garden of Gethsemane. Beautiful in the daylight, the chapel is perfect for a candlelight evening ceremony as well.

The alter is designed to allow for custom decorating to fit the theme of your wedding. Ask Marilyn how you can change the setting of your wedding.

The "Little White Chapel," as it is becoming known, is the perfect alternative to busy downtown Portland lifestyle. Canby's quiet neighborhoods and "small town flavor" lend to the beauty and peacefulness of a wedding here. You can have all the elegance of a big city wedding in a quiet, quaint small town setting that your guests will thoroughly enjoy.

Your guests will not have to move their cars to move from chapel to reception unless bad weather necessitates doing so.
